This week was epic! All kinds of awesomeness and epicness happened.
P-day was very fun. We played ultimate frisbee. I dominated. It was super fun. Then we visited Paula Monday night. On Tuesday not much happened. I got my bike tuned up and now it’s easier to ride. And then we taught Chris. It was a good lesson. He’s doing awesome.
Wednesday was when the awesomeness started to happen. But first we had to help the sisters move some stuff to their new apartment. After that we got a referral from the Colly Creek elders. So we went and contacted him later. It was easy because he lives only about three blocks from our apartment. His name is Trent. He’s way cool.
Thursday we had Zone Conference! It was awesome! That’s what we did the whole day until 6. During Zone Conference we got a media referral. So after dinner we went and contacted him. He also only lives a few blocks from our apartment. His name is Branden and he’s way cool too. He’s in the Air National Guard.
The awesomeness continued on Friday. We went in the morning to teach a referral that the sisters had for us. His name is Randy. It was a good lesson. We invited him for baptism on May 17th! From there we went to the Washburn University Campus. We tried to pass out flyers for the “Because of Him” video. President and the Assistants wanted us to spend a lot of time there doing that. Sadly it didn’t work out as well was we were hoping. Later we went over to Trent’s. He grilled us some food. Then we taught him and his wife. And we invited them to be baptized on May 17th!
On Saturday we had more awesomeness and epicness and stuff. We went in the morning to the ward Easter activity. It was fun. The food was really good. And our investigators, Chris and Branden, went too. Chris brought his kids and his room mate went too. After the activity we went over to Trent’s for some service. We helped clean up some branches in his yard. And from there we went over to help Chris paint his house. So we got to do a lot of service. It was awesome. Saturday night we went and taught Branden a super awesome lesson. And then we invited him to be baptized on May 17th!
Sunday was another good day. Things slowed down a little. But it was Easter! So it didn’t matter that a little less happened. Before church we went with Brother Elder Dickman to his setting apart. So he is now Elder Dickman again. He’s currently on his way back to Tennessee. Church was really good. And after church we had an awesome Easter meal with the Jones. But that’s really about it.
Anywho, this week was awesome!
So this week was pretty cool and stuff. We did P-day stuff on Monday and it was fun. We played basketball as usual. And we also played rugby! It was super fun. Monday night we visited Paula and finished teaching her a couple of things to get her ready for her baptism.
On Tuesday we had district meeting. It was a good one. After that we went around visiting some people. We rode the bus a lot too, and taught people on it. After dinner we went to visit Shihan at his dojo. he was showing people how to do knife fights. It was some cool stuff. We are going to start teaching a guy who trains there too.
Wednesday was another really good day. We walked around with Brother Elder Dickman a lot. We had some good lessons while we were with him. One was with a guy named Chris. He’s in the military and he’s super solid. He is planning on getting baptized in May! Wednesday night Paula had her baptismal interview and passed! And some other cool news that came on Wednesday is that Brother Elder Dickman with be returning to his mission in Tennessee on April 22nd. That’s pretty cool. But it also is sad because we can’t go on team ups with him after that. It’s okay though I guess.
On Thursday things slowed down a little sadly. We had fun though so it was ok. That’s really about it. Friday was better. We talked with a bunch of people. Some on the bus. Some at the bus stop. Good stuff. We also taught Paula that night and pumped her up for her baptism.
Then on Saturday Paula got baptized! It’s was awesome! She was super happy. It was a really good baptismal service. We stayed after it for the Kaw Valley elders baptism too. It was also good. That was really all that happened that day. But it was awesome! I guess we did a little service for members that night too.
On Sunday it rained a ton! It was awesome. There was also a lot of thunder. That was all after church though. Church was really good. Paula got confirmed and was still super happy. And then during third hour we taught the young men about the apostasy and restoration. And we made sure to talk about missionary work too. Got to get them ready for it and stuff.
Anyway that was the week. The weather turned crazy but it was fun. This morning there was even a little snow on the ground.
This week was good. We rode the bus some. And gave out some BoM’s on the bus. It’s a good finding idea. Paula came to the Sunday sessions of conference. She loved it. She’s ready for baptism on April 12th! It’s going to be awesome.
We did a lot of biking this week too. It’s nice having a bike again. We get around a lot faster now. Most of what we did this week was try to find more people to teach. The bus is good for that. We talked with a bunch of people. We also met a guy at a members Dojo that has been taught before. We are going to start teaching him.
Conference was pretty awesome. I can’t decide which talk is my favorite. They were all just too awesome. Elder Bednar’s was really good. He said some of the same things in it as he did when he came to the mission. So we got a sneak peak of his talk.
This next week should be pretty good. More bus rides and stuff. It’s pretty fun.
This week was fun. But it was a little slow. Not much happened. Except for a whole lot of walking. The good news is that we are getting our bikes today. So that will be nice. We also got bus passes this week! We will start using them this week too.
P-day was fun. We played some smash ball. It was fun. That was about it though. Tuesday we had district meeting. It was a good one. After that we walked around. But not much happened. That was actually how most of the week turned out to be sadly. So this will be a shorter email. But I will put the highlights. On Friday we had an ice cream party with Paula because she has quit smoking! It was awesome. She is currently on tract to be baptized on April 12th.
On Saturday we helped out with the blood drive at the church. It was fun. Some of the missionaries even donated blood. I was going to, but then I didn’t. That’s because they said my pulse was too high though. So I just did other stuff. And helped set up the church for the broadcast later in the day.
Sunday was a good day. Paula made it to church! And later in the day there was a choir concert at the church. There were choirs from our church and two other churches. It was really awesome. It was a good way to just meet some of the people in the area. We weren’t allowed to actually proselyte, but it was still good.
So those were some of the highlights. We did a lot of walking and trying to find people to teach. Nobody this week though. This week will be better.
This week was awesome! It was also transfer week. P-day was really fun. We played some basketball and smash ball, which is pretty much free-for-all dodge ball. It was fun. Elder McDaniel also did a little packing. He went to Scott City. He’s still waiting for his visa.
Tuesday we did a bunch of stuff in the morning. But the second half of the day was a little less effective. Elder McDaniel said goodbye to a few people. And we also taught a pretty good lesson to an investigator we got last week. For lunch we ate as a district for the last time. At 6, Elder McDaniel left for Wichita. He was going to take a bus from there the next day. I was with Elder Rose after that. Tuesday night we went and visited Shihan. Wednesday was transfer day! In the morning we picked up Elder Clay because his comp got transfered. So we were in a tripanionship for most of the day. Not too much happened though. It was a pretty crazy day and we had to drive around all over the place.
My new comp is Elder McIntire. He’s from Salt Lake and has been out for almost six month. He a pretty good missionary. He showed up at about 6 on Wednesday. We went straight to dinner when he got here. Brother Elder Dickman made us some Tennessee cuisine. We ate fried pickles among other things. It was good. We are hoping he will feed us some squirrel before he goes back on his mission next month. After dinner we went and taught Paula. She is doing great.
Thursday was a slower day. But not much happened. We did weekly planning in the morning. I brought Elder McIntire up to speed on the area. Then we did some service at Manor Care. We walked around and did a little tracting, but we didn’t actually talk with many people. Nobody was really home.
Friday was another good day. We went on team ups with Brother Elder Dickman and tried bunch of people. A lot weren’t home. But we kept trying more people. We were going to visit Paula, but Rick had to get his gallbladder out. So we went and visited him at the hospital. He was glad we came by.
Saturday was the best day ever! We went to the temple! It was a good day. We got there at 10 and our ride couldn’t leave until 5 because he is a temple worker. So we were at the temple for almost the whole day. The Gaukels were really happy that we could come. Sadly Elder Moyle couldn’t make it. He was too far from the temple. It was cool to see the Gaukels. A bunch of other members from Maryville were there too. And President and Sister Keyes were there! After we got back to Topeka we had a pretty good lesson with Paula.
Sunday was a pretty average day. We went to church and it was awesome. Then we met with our new ward mission leader and had lunch. Then we taught a good lesson and got a new investigator! After that we walked around a lot. We only saw a couple of people. It was a good day though.
So that’s about it for this week. It was epic!
