Hey Everyone,
It’s been a really good week.  It started with an awesome P-day.  We went disc golfing again.  I did pretty good and got par on one of the wholes.  Disc golf is pretty fun.
On Tuesday we went to the zoo!  We didn’t get to do anything as exciting as holding an alligator, but it was still fun.  We got to help build another retaining wall.  We’re fixing the place up quite nicely.  After the zoo we moved into our new apartment.  And that’s about it.  It’s an older apartment, but it works.  And it’s right next to the library so that’s pretty cool.  We also have a really nice blue lazyboy chair.  It’s really comfortable and I like sitting in it whenever I have the chance.
On Wednesday we had district meeting.  We drove down to Emporia for that.  It was really good.  We talked about teaching with the spirit.  After district meeting we went to a pizza buffet.  I ate so much that I didn’t even need to eat dinner.  Once we were done stuffing ourselves we exchanged.  I stayed down in Emporia with the district leader, Elder Bennett.  We had a good day there and just went around contacting people.
Thursday we exchanged back.  Then we did some weekly planning, which is a long and sometimes not as fun thing.  But, it’s good to do.  Then we went to clean up our old apartment.  We couldn’t just leave it a mess for the member that lives there.  They’re trying to sell the house after all.  Friday was our day full of tracting.  Not much of anything ended up happening but tracting.  We tried other things, but they didn’t work out.  We did find a new investigator at the end of the day though.  We were getting ready to head home when this guy on his porch saw us from across the street.  So he called us over to him and we started talking to him.  I like it when that happens.
Saturday was really good.  We went to visit one of our investigators with our new assistant ward mission leader.  We ended up teaching him and two of his neighbors / relatives while we were there.  So now they are all investigators!  Their names are Larry, Angela, and Catherine.  It was a really good lesson and the spirit was super strong.
On Sunday we had church.  Just like normal.  After church we went with our assistant ward mission leader again to visit the same people as the day before.  It was just a brief visit.  Much of the day after that was uneventful.  But later in the day we ran into the Elders Quorum president of our ward.  He was going to visit somebody new to the ward.  So we went with him.  It turned out to be somebody that has just decided that they want to get back into the church.  He was in the military but had a grenade blow up right over him, so now he isn’t.  It was really cool and we got to share a message with him.
That was our week.  It was pretty exciting.  Now I’m going to go bowling again.

Spencer, the Alligator Hunter! – 6/3/2013

Hey Everyone,
This was an really crazy week.  Crazier than normal.  We started off with P-day.  It was a pretty normal P-day.  We just did our P-day things then went to the church and played a fun italian card game called “BANG!”.  I was dominating, but then we had to leave.  It was a fun P-day though.
Tuesday was the craziest day ever.  First our phone broke.  Then we went to the zoo.  While there we fed and held alligators!  It was awesome.  Then we used one of the other missionaries phones to call the mission office about ours.  That’s when we found out we were moving to our new apartment that day!  Or at least partially.  So, we ended up doing that on Tuesday.  They were able to bring us a new phone though, so that was good.  Tuesday night, with our new phone, we got transfer calls!  Elder Tolliver and I both stayed here in Topeka.  So no big change there.
Wednesday was pretty normal.  We went around and did missionary things.  It wasn’t as exciting of a day as Tuesday.  On Thursday we also did missionary things.  But, towards the end of the day we did missionary stuff.  We went around with one the ward missionaries and visited a bunch of the members we still didn’t know.  It went well.  Then on Thursday night we had a super crazy thunderstorm.  It just didn’t have much thunder.  There was a ton of lightning though, and some pretty big hail.
On Firday we did no missionary work.  Elder Tolliver was sick.  So we sat around.  And I cleaned the apartment up a little.  It wasn’t very exciting.  Saturday was a good day.  It was nice and normal.  We just went out and did our missionary thing.
Sunday was really good.  We had church, just like usual.  It was good.  After church we went around doing missionary things.  We talked wit a drunk guy for about ten minutes.  It was pretty fun.  That’s not the only time I’ve done that.  I just felt like mentioning it now.
That was my crazy week.  It was pretty fun.  Now I’m going to go enjoy myself with disc golf today.

Hey Everyone,
This was a good week!  Actually it was pretty normal.  But it was still fun.  We did fun stuff like missionary work.  On P-Day we did disc golf!  It was really fun.  I got pretty good at it.  I also got a little sunburned.  But, now it’s just a tan which is cool.
On Tuesday we went to the zoo!  We did some service.  Nothing as exciting as alligators or gorillas this time though.  We just did a little landscaping.  It was still fun though.  After the zoo I became a chauffeur.  I had to drive all the other Elders everywhere because we were the only ones with a car this week.
On Wednesday we had interviews.  They were really good.  After them we went apartment hunting.  We had to find a couple of apartments that we could possible move to.  That’s pretty much what we did Wednesday through Friday mixed with tracting and visiting people.  We should be moving this week.
On Saturday we did missionary things.  It was pretty fun.  We just did our usual tracting thing and such.  That’s also what we did on Sunday after church.  Church was really awesome.  Right after it we had a meeting with our new ward mission leader and new assistant ward mission leader.  They have some really good ideas and really want to help the missionary work in the ward.  I’m excited to work with them.
This week wasn’t too eventful.  Next week probably will be though.  We have transfers and will be moving apartments.

Green Skies – 5/20/2013

Hey Everyone,
This week was really good.  And really weathery too.  On P-day we did P-day things.  Then we went bowling again!  They have a deal at the bowling alley where you can get lunch and bowl for three hours.  It was pretty sweet.  Then we drove around with the Elders from the Lake Shawnee ward and went tie shopping.  We found some pretty cool cheep ties.
On Tuesday we went to the zoo.  We didn’t get to work on the alligator exhibit.  Instead we hauled a bunch of dirt into the gorrilla exhibit!  It was fun.  Especially since people could see us in there.  After that we went out and tried some stuff.  But not much happened.
Wednesday we had district meeting.  We talked mostly about faith and a little bit about being bold.  It was really good.  I then exchanged with our district leader.  I stayed in Topeka this time though.  We went around and talked with a bunch of people.  Nothing too exciting happened though.
Thursday and Friday we biked around a lot.  The heat made it very uncomfortable.  The whole first half of the week was hot.  But, there was also a lot more people outside to talk to.
On Saturday we had a tractathon.  We basically just tracted all day.  The rest of our plans ended up falling through.  It was fun though.  And it wasn’t as hot so that was good.  Saturday night we had a pretty good thunderstorm.  Then on Sunday evening we had a crazy thunderstorm.  I’ll describe it to you.  First the sky to the west started looking slightly green.  Then when the clouds got over us it started raining buckets with a ton of thunder.  One hour later we had clear skys and it was super humid.  Luckily we were at the apartment and out of the storm.  We would have been drenched in seconds if we were out in it.  No tornadoes yet though.
That was my weathery week.  It flew by way fast, but wasn’t too exciting.

Hey Everyone,
This was an awesome week!  We did awesome missionary things.  Monday was zone P-day.  We started with our P-day stuff.  Then we went bowling!  It was fun.  We were able to play four games in two hours.  I was pretty rusty though so I didn’t do so well the first few.
On Tuesday we went to the zoo!  We finished the alligator exhibit while we were there.  It’s pretty cool.  They have an albino alligator.  It might be fake though because I haven’t seen it move.  Tomorrow when we go we might get to hold a small alligator so that’s cool.  We’ll find out.
Anyway, to the missionary work.  Tuesday after the zoo we went out and did stuff.  Mostly tracting.  We did go see Dameon after dinner though.  He’s almost done reading D&C now, which is awesome.  It’s always cool to visit him.  On Wednesday we had zone training in the morning.  It was really good.  They talked mostly about having the faith to find people to teach.  After that we went tracting a lot.  That’s actually mostly what we did this week.  We are really trying to get more investigators because we don’t have very many right now.
Thursday we did some service in the morning for the member we live with.  It was pretty cool.  The funniest thing of the week happened during the service.  We were just doing our thing when a cop stopped in the road and asked us if we had see anyone in an orange jump suit running around.  We hadn’t, and luckily we weren’t wearing orange jump suits.
The rest of the week wasn’t too exciting until Sunday.  We mostly just went tracting.  Lots of tracting.  But on Sunday we got to talk with an atheist for about thirty minutes.  We didn’t get very far with him.  But, he was very nice and we were both able to bear our testimony to him.  We also gave him a Book of Mormon and he said he would look through it.  So that’s cool.  Then we got to Skype home.  That was awesome.
So that was my awesome week.  This week will be awesome to.  Not for any particular reason though.  I just make sure every week is awesome.

The Great Topeka Snowstorm of May 2, 2013 – 5/6/2013

Hey Everyone,
This was a good week.  In the begining it was P-day.  We did fun P-day things, like frisbee.  No basketball though.  The floor was all sticky because they decided to glue carpet to the floor for Stake Conference.  It should be fine now though.
On Tuesday we went to the zoo!  I got to cut up some trees.  And by that I mean trim some trees.  It was pretty fun.  I got some saw dust in my eye and it reminded me of work.  We also got to see the white alligator that they have now.  The rest of Tuesday wasn’t quite as fun.  It was super hot.  And I got a little dehydrated.  But, we did get some good work done.
Wednesday we had district meeting.  It was really good.  Then we did a bunch of service for the member that we live with.  We raked out their back yard.  They are trying to get the house fixed up so they can move.  Which means we have to move soon too.
On Thursday we made a snowman!  Yep, I got dehydrated on Tuesday and it snowed on Thursday.  Kansas.  It was just a little snow I guess.  It mostly rained.  Other than it being cold Thursday and Friday were pretty uneventful and normal.  Saturday we did a lot of tracting.  We didn’t have anything else planned so we decided to just tract and find new people to teach.  It was somewhat effective.  I had fun riding my bike everywhere.
Sunday we had church!  It was good.  We learned things and did the normal church stuff.  The rest of Sunday wasn’t too eventful either.  It wasn’t a very effective day.  But the whole week altogether was very good.
Today should be fun.  It’s zone P-day and we are going bowling!

Hey Everyone,
This week was awesome!  A lot of cool things happened.  We started with P-day.  It was good.  We played basketball like usual.  On Tuesday we went to the zoo!  But, it was also really cold.  It was snowing actually.  Not so fun.  But, they have the alligators now and we got to see them so that’s cool.  We just helped get the exhibit finished.
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday were all really average.  We did missionary work.  Nothing too special happened.  A lot of it was tracting.  Sometimes tracting is fun though because of all the interesting things that you see while doing it.
Saturday was the best day of the week.  We got to drive to Lenexa Kansas for a special missionary meeting.  It was with Elder Cook, Elder Halstrom, and Bishop Davies.  With a couple of other general authorities that didn’t speak to us.  It was an awesome meeting.  They spoke to us about a lot of cool things.  I can’t really sumarize it without my notes in front of me though.
Suanday was also really awesome.  We had Stake Conference.  It was actually a “special” Stake Conference.  Nothing really special happened though.  Besides the whole stake being in the building and Elder Deshler the area seventy being there.  It was also a good meeting with some great talks.  The Stake President and Elder Deshler both talked about truly listening to the Spirit.
Anyway, it was a good week.  Hopefully we can make this week good too.  We’ll have to go out and do some awesome missionary work.  But, for today, I’m going to enjoy my P-day and dominate at basketball.

4/22/2013

Hey Everyone,
It was a good week.  It was also a pretty cold week.  It felt like it was still winter for most of it.  P-day was good though.  We did the usual P-day things.  Then we went and played some basketball and football.  It was fun.  I dominated as usual.  Just kidding we really just mess around the whole time.
On Tuesday I can’t even remember everything we did.  So, I wont say much about Tuesday.  We just did our normal missionary thing and walked around trying to teach people.  We also went out and taught our investigator Dameon again.  He’s pretty awesome.  He’s finished the Book of Mormon and has been to church a ton.
On Wednesday we got bikes!  It was great to finally get bikes.  Now we don’t have to walk every other week.  Riding bikes just makes everything more fun too.  Sadly it was also very rainy on Wednesday.  It was misting all day.  Then when we started heading back to the apartment to get picked up for dinner it started pouring.  We weren’t in it for very long but we still got soaked.  After dinner the thunderstorms started.  It was fun.
Thursday was transfers!  Nothing happened to us though.  So it was a normal day.  We were lucky to have no rain Thursday and Friday, but it was still cold.  We just rode our bikes around trying to contact a bunch of people.  It wasn’t too exciting.  Saturday we did the same thing too.  It was nicer though because it was warmer.  It still wasn’t very exciting though.  Except we got to ride bikes.  That’s always exciting.
Sunday was church!  Just like normal.  It was good though, I enjoy church.  After church we went and taught one of our investigators.  She has been reading and praying now which is awesome.  For dinner we went to a part member family’s house.  We are going to start teaching the non-member soon.  It was a good dinner and we watch an awesome Mormon Message video after.
That was my week.  It was pretty fun, and riding bikes around made it even better!  This week will be awesome.  We get to go to a special missionary meeting and have a special Stake Conference with general authorities at both.  I’m pretty sure it’s Elder Cook that is coming.

Topeka Zoo – 4/15/2013

Hey Everyone,
This was a good week.  P-day was fun.  We did the usual.  We emailed and shopped as fast as possible to make more time for playing sports.  Since it was a nice day we decided to play frisbee again.  It was awesome and I dominated.  That was about all we did on P-day.
On Tuesday we went to the Zoo!  We got to help work on the alligator exhibit.  Hopefully I will be here when they get the alligators.  They said they would let us feed them.  That just means throwing food at them pretty much though.  So, it’s not really that exciting.
On Wednesday we had zone conference.  It was really good.  During it we learned that we are having a special meeting where an apostle will be.  I’m lucky because you have to be within an hour of the Stake Center that the meeting is at to go, and we are about an hour away.  It’s going to be awesome.  I also went on exchanges on Wednesday.  I went to Emporia again.  It was pretty fun.
Thursday wasn’t very eventful.  I drove back up from Emporia to exchange back.  Then it was a normal day.  We taught one of our investigators named Nico at a members house again.  It was a good lesson.  Friday also wasn’t very eventful.  That’s mostly all I remember about it because not a lot happened.
Saturday was good.  We did a lot of really good work.  Most of it was still tracting, but that’s ok.  People were actually home for the most part.  First we decided to tract some hoodish looking apartments, then we just kept going.  On Sunday we had church!  It was a good day.  After chruch we went and taught some good lessons to people.
So, it was a good week.  Except for the weather.  The weather is still really weird.  At least it isn’t snowing anymore.  Just rain and a lot of wind.

Hey Everyone,
This was a great week.  We started with P-day.  It was zone P-day and we played ultimate frisbee.  It was fun.  On Tuesday we went to the zoo!  I got to make part of a retaining wall.  One of these days I will remember to bring my camera so I can take pictures of the few animals I see.
Wednesday was my birhtday!  I became older.  It was a good day.  We did some good work.  I also made myself a cake, because I wanted cake.  It was very delicious.  Thursday was a good day too.  We taught a new investigator at a members home.  We taught him a good lesson and invited him to be baptized and he accepted!  Friday was a little slower of a day.  We ended up doing a lot of walking.  We still don’t have bikes and we had to walk a couple of miles just to get to the area we wanted to work in.  It was good exercise though.
Saturday was General Conference!  It was almost like a spiritual P-day.  We didn’t really get much of anything else done because our church building is a little far from our area.  Our ward had a dinner right before the priesthood session and after we finished eating we went and crashed the other wards ice cream buffet.  So we got dinner and ice cream.  Sunday was General Conference too.  It was great.  All of the talks were good.  My favorite was probably Elder Hollands.  It was short and to the point.  I also liked President Monsons fire story though.
Anyway, it was a good week.  This week should be good too.  And we don’t have to wear our suit coats anymore so that’s a plus.  I’m going to enjoy my P-day now.
